Tartuffe
About a year ago, I designed Tartuffe as a part of my graduate degree at the University of Virginia. The director and I were heavily influenced by high fashion. I looked at fashion images from designers like Vivian Westwood and Dior, designers that are inspired by the 18th and 19th centuries. We found some of the humor in Tartuffe to be dark and serious, but relevant to our modern audience. This became part of our concept. We chose a simple color palate. Dark representing the corrupt and lighter colors representing hope and goodness.
